And I’m back on my Asics full time! After grabbing those Express GLIII, it was time to move onto these Solebox x Atmos x Asics Gel Lyte III Tiger Camo.
The shoes come with an extra lace choice, and special branding on the box, laces and insole. These react to UV light, revealing more purple on the shoe.
The overall color scheme is kind of a mix of greys. The purple hits are so minimal you can almost ignore them and throw on some combinations of blacks, greys and whites for a simple, easy combo. Even if you did wear a top with some purple accents, it would not be so matchy that it would look weird.
How Are The Materials?
The upper is a kind of really short hair rough suede-ish leather-ish type of material. The camo parts are more like a smooth leather, while the Asics stripes have a slight amount more of a texture/tumble to them. The rest is mesh. Overall the material quality is OK. It’s not terrible, but I wasn’t as impressed with these as with the 24K collab.
How Do They Fit?
The Solebox x Atmos x Asics Gel Lyte III Tiger Camo fit just like other Gel Lyte IIIs, if not a bit stiff thanks to the materials. I find these to be fairly comfortable, but I am used to the split tongue and snug fit. First time owners of GL3s should be aware that the fit of the shoe can take a few minutes to get used to. The shape on these is very good out of the box. However I gavethese a reshape for an extra bit of slope, like I normally do.
The Asics collabs tend to sit on some sites for about a day, so you have a small window to grab for retail, which is how I’ve gotten the last couple GL3 collabs. Overall, I’m happy with this pickup as I didn’t have any other Tiger Camo shoes or Atmos collabs with Asics. I can recommend these to fans of the GL3.
